Uranium tariffs could be grim for US, warns Kazatomprom chief

President Trump has threatened to crack down on imports of radioactive material

pworld,Two large tanks of sulfuric acid stand outside a processing facility at the East Mynkuduk uranium mine in Kyzemshek, Kazakhstan, on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007. Uranium is mined here using a process called in-situ leaching. A production solution, made primarily of sulfuric acid, is pumped into a production well which liquifies the uranium under-ground. The uranium-rich production solution is then pumped out of the ground and sent for processing into yellow cake, also known as U3O8, a uranium oxide. Photographer: Daniel Acker/Bloomberg News
